Lancing College employs its own part time archivist, Mrs Anne Drewery. She is always happy to receive any items to do with peoples’ school days, to add to what we already have.
Among the highlights of our holdings are the correspondence of Nathaniel Woodard, mostly relating to the promotion and maintenance of the College; architectural drawings of the college buildings, including its world-famous chapel; meteorological diaries of the 18th century among the family papers of Edmund Field; material relating to the evacuation of the College to Shropshire during the Second World War.
It is often possible to discover interesting information about former masters and pupils, and not infrequently a photograph, usually as part of an academic or sporting group, can be located.
In the first instance, inquirers interested in former masters and pupils of Lancing College are recommended to consult editions of the Lancing Register. Copies of the latest edition, covering 1939-1997 are available from the College.
