Lancing College defeats Bradfield College |

Lancing College 1st XI Boys' Hockey team defeated Bradfield College 1st XI 4-2 in the second round of the Boarding Schools' Cup today. Read the Captain's report:
The 1st XI Hockey team arrived at Bradfield eagerly anticipating Lancing's first ever entry into the Boarding Schools' Cup. Following a substantial warm up, the boys huddled in for a team talk and with the electronically received words of encouragement from Mr Crowe, we were off. Bradfield dominated the early stages as we initially struggled to get a hold on the game. They opened the scoring from a well worked move down the right hand side. However quickly after, Jono C raced through from midfield to win Lancing their first short corner of the afternoon. Jono’s drag flick was thwarted by the keeper, however Wilfred A was on hand to finish up the move to equalise.
After half time Bradfield pushed hard and eventually made the break through after well worked play down the left. Lancing were far from finished, and another great run from Jono resulted in a penalty stroke which he duly converted to level the game. Both teams then pushed hard for a winner and thanks to some great defending from Seung Kyu N, Eddie P, Will H and Ed C we managed to fend off any potential threats to Eldon C's goal. With 5 minutes to go, George H made a great tackle deep within our own half, before slipping the ball to Jono who again drove hard at the opposition to win another penalty stroke. He was then on hand to bury the resulting stroke to make the score 3-2 to Lancing. Rob C sealed the game late on after some great work from Wilfred to make the score 4-2. The next round beckons….
