Governing Body Chair 2009-2019, Foundation Council Chair

I have been Chair of English National Opera and The London Coliseum for the last nine years. I remain as Chair of Kuro Health, a company I started in 1996. I am also Vice President of the College of Medicine. My current role at Lancing College is Chair of the Foundation Council. I was Chair of the Governing Body between 2009 – 2019. I am not a former pupil but a former parent.

My relationship with Lancing College dates back to 1996 when my son, Harry, entered Gibbs House. Over the years he was followed by his siblings; Emma, Eric and Ralph. Emma was Head Girl in 2000. My nephew, Hugh, and my niece, Alexandra, are also alumni. My wife, Jacquie, is a dancer/choreographer and was involved in numerous shows both at the College and prep schools. Jacquie is proud that the dance studio is named in her honour.

Lancing College has not only had a profound effect on me but on our whole family. It is a school whose values and humanity dates back over the centuries. It is both a unique and special place and many young lives have flourished and blossomed at the school. It also boasts the largest and indeed most impressive school chapel in the world.

It was a great privilege to be selected for a Lancing portrait. In terms of my proudest achievement, it was also a great privilege to be selected for the role of Chair of Governors. It was a hugely rewarding period of my life and I am delighted to continue my relationship as Chair of the Foundation Council. I have innumerable memories but I remain proud of the fact that Lancing Prep at Hove, Lancing Prep at Worthing and Little Lancing all became established during my time.
