Poppy Sutcliffe

Poppy Sutcliffe, OL

Sankey's 2018-2023, Undergraduate at Oxford University

Poppy was a dedicated and ambitious student at Lancing and is now going on to pursue her passion for English at Oxford University.

Supported by Lancing throughout her time at the school, Poppy has learnt to embrace challenge and believes that it has instilled in her the belief that she could achieve anything. This approach has enabled her to meet a diverse range of people, and ensured that she had fun while gaining valuable life experiences. One such experience, which she recommends to anyone who is given the opportunity to go, was the transformative trip to Malawi, which she states has a had a profound impact on her life.

Poppy is proud of her time at Lancing. She thrived as one of the Heads of School in her final year, was the captain of the 1st eleven Hockey team and feels her offer from Oxford to study English was her greatest achievement. Beyond her academic accolades, she shone in the College musicals with Mr Beeby and Mr Smith and cherishes fond memories of enjoyable times in Sankey's with Mrs Britnell and Shell.

Despite these achievements, what truly matters to Poppy is her family and friends. She has formed deep connections with remarkable individuals at Lancing.

As Poppy embarks on the next chapter of her academic journey, she is taking with her many enriching experiences and deep connections with remarkable individuals from Lancing, which have shaped her into the determined and compassionate individual she is today. What truly matters to Poppy is her family and friends and with her dedication and passion for English literature, there is no doubt that Poppy will continue to shine brightly as she takes on the challenges of higher education.
