Kate Sparling

Which A Levels did you study?

English Literature, Economics, Geography at A Level, and Drama AS Level.

If you went to university, where did you go and what did you study?

I studied English Literature BA Hons at Loughborough University, and loved every moment of it.

What are you doing now and what plans do you have for the future?

I currently work in Public Relations for Clarins. After graduating, I pursued a career in journalism and then begun working in the Fashion industry as a PR. I moved from Fashion to Beauty PR last year, and love everything about my job.

What influence has Lancing College had on your life?

Lancing prepared me for university life by encouraging me to seize every opportunity offered to me, and gave me the ability to complete a degree and attend a university that I loved.

Which hobbies or interests did you pick up during your time at Lancing?

Lancing encouraged a huge interest in sport and exercise for me. Joining Lancing in the sixth form, I had come from a very academic school where sports were not a priority. The sporting opportunities I received at Lancing, no matter your ability, sparked an interest and I went on to become Female Sports Secretary for my halls at Loughborough University.

Are you still in touch with people you met at Lancing?

Yes, the friendships you develop whilst boarding are incredibly special. After university I moved to Australia for a year and even met up with Lancing girls whilst there and continue to do so.

What advice would you give to a new pupil who is about to start at Lancing?

Take every opportunity you get at Lancing and run with it. It is a fantastic, nurturing place to be and you are incredibly lucky to be at such a special school, in such beautiful surroundings.
