Lancing Parents Association

The Lancing Parents Association, previously known as the St Nicolas Association, was established in 2002 with the aim of arranging social functions for Lancing parents and friends. The Association also has an important role within the wider Lancing College community, facilitating conversation between the school and parents. This often includes raising funds for special projects that cannot be funded from the school’s existing resources. Parents are automatically members of the LPA when they pay the Lancing Society fee on the termly bill.

The Association arranges three major events each year, including the hugely popular Hog Roast is held for all families on the first Saturday of the Advent Term as a welcome start to the new school year. Other types of previously held events include Burns' Suppers, Quiz Suppers, Wreath Making, Comedy Nights, and Murder Mystery Evenings.

The Committee, all of whom are parents, shares the responsibility for organising these events and meets regularly at the College. The Annual General Meeting, when the committee members are chosen, is held every October.

Any money raised from LPA events is used for the provision of extra facilities and amenities for the pupils. These have previously included screens for the Chapel, Leavers' Ball fireworks, the purchase of chess clocks, a barbecue, a PA system in Great School, and a portable PA system for musicians and general school use. The Committee is particularly keen to encourage pupils to make suggestions for specific projects they could fund.
