Miss Lucy Freeland

BA Oxon, MPhil Cantab
Teacher (English)
Lucy Freeland

Lucy joined Lancing in 2015 to teach English Literature. Having completed a BA in English as an exhibitioner at St Hilda’s College Oxford, she went on to gain an MPhil in 19th Century Literature at Fitzwilliam College Cambridge before embarking upon a PGCE. Prior to teaching, Lucy worked in travel journalism, beginning as a feature writer before becoming an editor for the online travel website, The Culture Trip.

Still enthusiastic about global culture and tech-media, Lucy is the activity leader and editor-in-chief for Lancing’s pupil-produced online magazine View from the Hill and as of 2017, holds the position of Overseas Higher Education Coordinator. Alongside the handling of all applications by Lancing pupils to universities abroad – with destinations ranging from McGill to Maastricht – Lucy is involved more broadly in the promotion of higher education, assisting with UCAS and Oxbridge preparation.

Outside of school, Lucy can be found roaming the Downs with a book, searching for Brighton’s best coffee shop or playing the piano.
