Chris Foster studied Geography at St Edmund Hall, Oxford.  After teaching in two very different schools he came to Lancing as Head of Geography.  Over the last twenty years the Geography department led the schools drive to universal IT use and then helped integrate the library into the curriculum.  The Department  regularly travels to Nepal, Morocco and Iceland as well as Wales and Dorset.  He has also been fully involved in co-curricular activities having run the sports programme for a time, been in charge of Swimming, Director of Dance and ran a junior football team for over 25 years.  He has been active in the outdoors, enjoying many DofE expeditions, initiating the Third Form Challenge, working on the College estate in various conservation projects and at the forefront of the millennium tree planting project.  His first love is sailing and as well as running the College Sailing Squad he is an active competitive sailor in the local area.
