Mr Chris Foster

MA Oxon
Head of Geography,
Head of Outdoor Learning

Chris Foster studied Geography at St Edmund Hall, Oxford. After teaching in two very different schools he came to Lancing as Head of Geography. Over the last 20 years, the Geography Department has led the school's drive to universal IT use and then helped integrate the Library into the curriculum. The Department regularly travels to Nepal, Morocco and Iceland as well as Wales and Dorset.

Chris has also been fully involved in co-curricular activities: he has managed the sports programme for a time, been in charge of swimming, was a previous Director of Dance, and also ran a junior football team for over 25 years. He has been active in the outdoors, enjoying many Duke of Edinburgh's Award expeditions, initiating the Third Form Challenge, working on the College estate in various conservation projects and was at the forefront of the millennium tree planting project.

Chris's first love is sailing and, as well as running the College Sailing Squad, he is an active competitive sailor in the local area.
