After attending Newcastle University where he studied for a BA in History and Archaeology, Dan entered the publishing industry, eventually becoming a Senior Publisher at the Financial Times. He undertook his PGCE in 2000 and gained his Advanced Diploma in Research (History) at Cambridge in 2004. 
He joined Lancing as a Housemaster in 2005 from Oundle School and has taught History, Classical Civilisation and Politics. Dan has held a number of posts at the College, including Head of Politics and Registrar. He is now the Assistant Head (Pastoral). Dan has been recently been appointed Head of Transformational Change and leads Lancing’s mission to provide access to the College for disadvantaged pupils.
Dan is also a Governor at Littlehampton Academy, a fellow Woodard School, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
