Each week the whole school gathers in our impressive chapel to celebrate the Eucharist, placing our Christian heritage at the heart of both our campus and our life here. We come together to celebrate our common life and to give thanks to God for the gift of his life and love for all people in Jesus Christ. This is the core of who we are as a community and guides our reflections on our personal vocation; Lancing is a Eucharistic Community
We welcome pupils from across the world, who represent a great diversity belief systems, cultures and heritages. Gathering together, we are enriched by our differences. The inclusivity of our community within our Christian heritage is fundamental to what makes this school so distinctive and special. The beauty of the Chapel and the services, with our nationally significant choir, never fail to impress; Lancing pupils, no matter their personal beliefs, are inspired by the worship which is offered here.
Our Christian values which have shaped our community for over 175 years. This is the root of our outstanding pastoral care and our desire to see each pupil flourish as the person they are being called to be. As Chaplain, I am immersed in school life, meeting pupils pastorally, teaching, engaging in outreach work with our local community, leading our charity work, coaching pupils who are preparing to offer sermons in Chapel, preparing pupils for confirmation, ensuring that pupils of all faiths have access to their faith community, and being a visible sign of the Christian ethos of our community. I am here for the whole community, whatever their faith, as an encouragement to each member of the community to explore their relationship with God, and to remind everyone of the deeper questions and meaning of life.
I look forward to welcoming you here to Lancing, whether you come as a prospective pupil or parent, visitor to see our Chapel or to join in with one of our services. I am confident that you too will be inspired.
With every blessing,
Fr Justin
