The Dance Showcase Returns

We were delighted to welcome back the Dance Show after an absence of four years. The last one was in May 2019 and we were so pleased to be able to showcase students’ work again in front of an audience on the stage. Many people commented on the diversity of styles in the programme: from contemporary fusion to musical theatre; from tap to jazz and from lyrical to hip hop. It was great to see a number of male dancers again, especially in the contribution from the boys’ company, Vortex. Last year saw an informal ‘sharing’ of work and indeed, that was so successful we will repeat it this year. Dance at Lancing College is in an excellent place, as was evidenced by the large number of performers in the show.

We now have a group of five remarkable teachers and I am very grateful to them for all the hard work that they put into preparations to ensure the success of the show. It was truly memorable for dancers and audience alike. Particular thanks goes to Rachel Brown for doing a lot of the organisation in advance, but I am equally grateful to Abi Farmery, Hayley Jones, Maria Doick and Connie Mace. The show, of course, would not have been possible without the technical wizardry of Martin Chandler and his young apprentice for this show, Fourth Former, Bethan E.
