End of Summer Term 2021

Inter-House Tennis

On the last week of term, and despite the tough British weather conditions, it was great to see the annual Junior and Senior House Tennis tournaments taking place with such exuberance.

With over 80 students participating from Fourth Form to Upper Sixth, the afternoon of tennis depicted many of the great qualities we love about House sport at Lancing: students wearing their House shirts and colours with pride; peers, Housemasters and Mistresses cheering teams on from the side lines; and players demonstrating brilliant team spirit and sportsmanship throughout the day right up until the final point were played. There were of course close matches, with several of the Senior boys’ matches going down to the wire.

Winning the Senior Boys’ House tennis event was Sedric L & Ollie C from Gibbs’ House; the Senior Girls’ event was won by Manor’s Alicia & Isabella H in an all Manor final. Jayden H and Marnix H pipped a strong Gibbs’ opposition to the post in the Junior Boys’ final to take the shield to Head’s House; and Eva B and Iyana P were victorious against a competitive Handford duo in the Junior Girls’ final to take the shield for Sankey’s. A huge congratulations to all who took part in both events.

This year we also saw the very first ‘Covid Cup’ for the Third Form. Some fantastic tennis was played by all Houses, with some very close matches. However, it was Saints’ House who came up at the top, winning both the U14 Boys' and U14 Girls' events.
