Lancing chemists compete in the Top of the Bench

In January a group of Lancing pupils competed in the Royal Society of Chemistry’s ‘Top of the Bench’ at the Priory School in Lewes.
William P represented the Fifth Form, Randa H competed for the Fourth Form whilst Peter H and Alex B represented the Third Form. All pupils were involved in a practical experiment: William was assigned a titration, Randa’s task involved rates of reaction, while Peter and Alex tested the reactivity of various elements. At the end of the day all pupils took a chemistry knowledge quiz.
The competition was extremely close, with the College coming third out of 11 schools and just missing the top slot by two points. It was exciting yet challenging at the same time and the experience was enjoyed by all.
