Lancing Portraits - Phase Two 2025

The inaugural exhibition of Lancing Portraits was commissioned and installed as a key feature of the College’s 175th Anniversary in 2023/24. Since then, the exhibition has made a significant impact both with those who are familiar with the College and our visitors, becoming a key feature of every College tour. The exhibition has lived up to the ambition of being bold, and challenging viewers to think and learn. The portraits represent Lancing past, present and future.

From the beginning there has been a plan that a second series would be commissioned from Fran Monks, the acclaimed photographer who worked with us in producing the first round of images. Thanks to the generous support of the Lancing Foundation, this idea is now taking shape, with the added impetus that this enables the College to take the current photographs and reposition them in other locations where their presence can be equally bold and inspiring.

Commenting on the commission, Head Master Dominic Oliver said

“The response to our Anniversary exhibition was exceptionally positive from across our wide community. Significant projects such as this serve to highlight and to remind us of what we value and celebrate. In its second phase we will be able to see this anew. The existing portraits will be hung in other significant and well-known locations around the College”.
