News from Lancing Equestrian

The Lancing College Equestrian Centre has been awarded five stars in the new Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) inspections. This is the top grading in the scoring matrix, awarded to those centres where higher standards and lower levels of risk are observed. This now gives us a three year licence at the Centre.

In addition to this, the British Horse Society approvals department visited us in March 2019 and the Centre is now an Approved Training Centre for BHS Stages one and two. We are also now able to host BHS assessments for Stage one. For those pupils who are interested in progressing their horse riding and care skills, this offers them the opportunity to gain recognised qualifications.

We are also pleased to report that Fifth Former Julia S competed on Pablo in the NSEA Pop Up Dressage, and with a well-ridden accurate test was placed fourth in her class. Julia should be very proud of what her and Pablo have achieved together.

With the better weather conditions, some of the pupils have also had the opportunity to go hacking in the beautiful tracks on the South Downs close to the Centre. We hope to continue doing this in the Summer Term.
