The OL Club Carol Service 2021

Having not had an OL Club carol service in 2020, we were very keen to run with one in 2021. You may recall that in early December 2021, there was a big spike in COVID-19 numbers and it was touch and go whether the carol service would take place. Thankfully it did, but it did mean that numbers were much lower than usual. There were two other changes, firstly Tom Robson was not able to conduct the choir due to a prior engagement but luckily Tom Stockwell (Gibbs' 2006-2008) was able to conduct and did a great job.

Secondly, Canon David Reindorp (Field's 1966-1971) has now retired from Chelsea Old Church having taken the carol services for 15 years. Fortunately, Bishop  Jonathan Meyrick (Field’s 1965-1970 and Provost of Lancing) was able to step in to take the service.

Graham Robinson (Gibbs' 1958-1962) again organised much of the carol service despite not being able to attend. Nick Parker (Head's 1974-1979) was thankfully able to take over the running of the event which was a great success and enjoyed by everyone present.

There were the usual readings read by various OLs and also some beautiful singing by the choir  who were in the organ loft this year. After the fifth lesson, Camilla Harris  (Field's 2006 -2011) sang a beautiful solo of ‘O Holy Night’ by  Adolphe Adam (arranged by A.J. Robson).

After the service, we all moved next door to Petyt Hall for mulled wine and light refreshments which gave us a good opportunity to catch up with other OLs and friends.
