Pupils celebrate the Chinese New Year

On Sunday 18 February, pupils gathered in the Dining Hall to celebrate the Chinese New Year. This event has become a yearly tradition, enjoyed by pupils from all years. We spoke to two students about the festivities:

“It was a fantastic night, starting with Chinese cuisine (including the famous Chinese fortune cookies). Food was followed by performances, with pupils showcasing traditional dances and sing songs. It is an event that encourages students and teachers to learn and enjoy Chinese culture, with many learning about ancient calligraphy and traditional street games. It is always a memorable time of year!

“As we all know, it is the Year of the Dog in the Chinese calendar and we celebrated this in style. The evening was a joyous occasion; people were singing, using their phone flashlight while swaying to the music and joining people on stage to dance. It was an incredible atmosphere and will be one of my most treasured memories of my time at Lancing.”

What a fantastic event for all, we look forward to next year’s celebrations!
