Summer success ...
Back in July, Freddie B (Lower Sixth) competed at the British Gymnastics Championships in Newcastle, where he won the Junior Mixed silver medal in a very strong field of five teams. This has now earned Freddie's team a place at the TeamGym Mid-Euros in Italy this November. The Mid-Euros are the top two club teams from each country, in each age group.
As well as this fantastic result Freddie has also been put forward for GB selection for the TeamGym European Championships, which take place in Azerbaijan in October 2024. Freddie will find out if he has been successful in the selection process next Spring.
Other summer success came from Fifth Former George G, who won the Brian Hazelgrove Salver golf trophy. He also tied first place at the Ham Manor Junior Open and was second at the Bognor Regis Junior Open.
We wish George the best of luck as he plays in a three-day tournament, The Warwickshire, this weekend.
On Thursday afternoon, the Hockey Club welcomed Hurst for their first two matches of the term.
The 1st XI got off to a fantastic start and maintained possession for the majority of the match. Despite strong midfield play from Nerea K-M and Harriet B and fierce attacking from Lara C, Lancing were unable to find the goal, going in 0-0 at half time. With 4 minutes left of the second half ,Hurst capitalised on a turnover and scored the only goal of the game to take a 1-0 win. Players of the game Kitty H and Nerea K-M.
The 2nd XI delivered a nail-biting match that could have gone either way, with Lancing again maintaining good possession. Ultimately a 0-0 draw, with standout performances from Ava S, Bella B and Ella T.
At the weekend, the Football Club welcomes St Dunstan’s and the Hockey Club welcomes Christ’s Hospital. Support is always welcome (from 1pm), for what we're sure will be some very strong and competitive matches.
