We start with the impressive news that last weekend Alice C made back to back hundreds – first for her county on Saturday, and then for her club on Sunday. Then great news followed earlier this week with Oscar S being selected for the full Sussex U14 Squad. Congratulations to them both!
Last weekend saw mixed U15A and B teams travel to Ardingly. Lancing was victorious at both levels, winning 16-2 in both matches.
In the same block, the girls' 1st VI won 14-6 with Natalia Y, Olesia G, Alicia H and Flora D losing only one game. The 2nd VI won 16-9, with Chiara R, Nina R, Mabel W and Talia W all winning. The boys' 1st team, captained by Alfie F, made it a clean sweep by winning 13-8.
On Thursday, the girls added to their triumphs with victory over Brighton College by 5 matches to 4. MVP was Flora D, for winning both her doubles and singles matches.
The Tennis Club currently leads the college with a 54% win ratio!
Performance of the weekend came from the U15A team that won away at KES Southampton by 4 wickets. A brief mention too for the U14B team, who have twice come close to bowling out their opposition. Fifteen wickets in two games shows promise for this coming Saturday.
On Tuesday, two athletics teams travelled to The K2 in Crawley to compete at the Track & Field Cup. This is a unique event in which a team of 12 athletes take part in one field and one track event and, depending on their distance or time, will score points for their school.
For the girls' team, notable performances came from Sophie L in the 800m scoring 13 points, Sofia R scoring 13 points in the high jump, and the biggest score of the day – Miranda C in the shot putt scoring 16.
The boys' team scored a total of 253 points and the stand out performances were from Henry H and Nana O-N, each scoring 20 points in their respective races, and Seb Owers who found his form in the 800m to score 15 points. Well done to all of the athletes involved.
