Sporting Highlights - 24 November 2017

As we approach the Exeat, Lancing Sport has played 143 fixtures with 35 teams currently being fielded.

We congratulate Hannah G, Noah M, Owen M and Ollie D who have been selected for the Sussex Hockey JAC in their respective age groups. We wish them all well for their future training and selection.

Football
It has been an excellent week for the Football Club. The U14A team grabbed a fine win over a fancied Hampton School by 4 goals to 3, with the 2nd XI producing a battling performance to draw 0-0 in the same block.

The 1st XI were unfortunate not to beat Hampton and took a point in a lively 2-2 draw. Goals were scored by Dan C and Bader J. The team then faced Collyer's College in the Sussex Cup. The boys were outstanding from start to finish and proved too strong in every department in a superb 4-2 win. Goals were scored by Demi A (now with 17 in 11), Joe H, Luke H and MVP Elian C. The team will now face either Cardinal Newman or Chichester High in an away quarter-final. We of course wish Demi the best as he trials for the full ISFA England team on Sunday.

Hockey
Saturday saw the junior teams set an impressive ‘Club best’ in the goal scoring stakes. Despite only two games taking place, 19 goals were scored without reply against KES Witley.

The U14A game started with Lancing on top with Ruth B opening the scoring. However, KES did have some breakaways and our defence did well to stand firm. The girls managed to keep the upper hand throughout the game to run out 6-0 winners. Other goals were scored by Rosy H, Jaime J, Kira C and Kitty C-H.

The U15A team ran out 13-0 victors. The game was notable not only for the avalanche of goals, but also for some great defensive support from Jess E and Hannah G. In the second half the team rotated positions, giving the defenders a chance to attack and vice versa. In the win, goals came from Maya R (3) Olivia A (3) Alice C (2) and also Hannah G, Talia W, Jess E, and Nelu M.

Netball
This week the U14 and U15 girls took on Shoreham College. After a shaky start the U14A team recovered well to win 9-7. Thanks to the amazing teamwork between the defence and the shooters. Special mention to Tallulah R who was girl of the game.

The U15A team made it two from two by winning 23-12. Goals were scored by Issy P, Honor S and Abby H. Special mentions to Olivia A and Maya R for their excellent movement around the court.
