This week we congratulate Jonah B who went on to win the Millfield Junior Open Squash Tournament last weekend. This is a fantastic achievement as he was competing against the best players in the country.
Congratulations must also go to Steffi M who took part in her first sponsored 10K race last Sunday. She completed the course in 49 minutes 23 seconds, placing her 34th out of a total of 103 runners (9th girl). Well done Steffi.
Last weekend a record number of Lancing pupils were put forward for county football trials. After a busy set of matches we are pleased to announce that Harry S, Tom H and Sam B have been invited back. We also wish Marvin Y well as he travels to Eton on Sunday for the ISFA South of England trials at U17 level.
On Tuesday, the 1st XI football team crashed out of the national cup after losing 2-1 to Kimbolton. Despite a good defensive performance and a goal from Isaac A, the match went to extra time with the visitors scoring late on in the second period. This weekend we look forward to eleven games against Bede's, and the 1st XI take on the Corinthian Casuals. Best of luck to Alex T, Myf S and Amelia S-F as they make their debuts for the Club.
On Thursday, the 1st and 2nd hockey teams played Brighton College in a tough, competitive fixture. We haven’t played this school for several years so it was really good to see us compete against our local rivals. The 1s had a defensive first half managing to contain the Brighton attack. Superb defending from JoJo W and Hannah G kept our structure at the back. Brighton upped their intensity in the second half and scored from two well-worked set pieces. Then a last second penalty flick going against us resulted in a final goal. This was unlucky because goalkeeper Emily B had been outstanding, making several difficult saves to keep us in the game. Good luck to all girls playing against Eastbourne College tomorrow.
