Lots to celebrate in squash this week
We start by congratulating Jonah B who won his second British Championships title last weekend – an outstanding achievement! He is now preparing for the World Championships in January and we look forward to following his progress.
On Tuesday, Lancing’s 1st and 2nd teams went to Christ’s Hospital for a triangular fixture with Winchester. The 1st team defeated Christ’s Hospital, but Winchester proved too strong a side and won overall. Special mention to Kyron S (voted MVP) for his fight to victory.
On Wednesday our Third Form squash players faced Charterhouse and Perins School for Stage 1 of the National Schools Competition. Lancing won their matches and will now advance through to stage 2.
Over Half Term, a mix of U15 and U16 footballers travelled to Duisburg on tour. Playing against stiff opposition, the team produced an excellent performance against BlauWeisz Barop to win 6-2. Another highlight was the two professional matches that they got to see, especially the famous "Gelbe Wand" of Borussia Dortmund. The boys were impeccably behaved, received praise from SSL, and were real ambassadors for Lancing throughout the trip.
At the beginning of Half Term, five Lancing swimmers took part in the Sussex County Winter competition and gained a haul of medals. George C and James R dominated their races, winning almost all of the events between them and finishing 1st and 2nd overall in their age group. Well done to Grace S who gained 6th place overall in her age group, and Rania K who won her 50m freestyle race.
Finally, good luck to the hockey teams playing Seaford College tomorrow and to the football teams playing Royal Russell. It’s a short weekend so please support your friends.
