A slightly shorter report this week due to the exeat, but lots of success to report on nevertheless.

Lancing hosted its first LTA Play Your Way to Wimbledon tournament this week with over 80 students competing on both Saturday and Tuesday. Congratulations to all who took part; we were able to run both main draw and consolation draws, with prizes for all, but it was the following students who took home the main prize on the day.

Some close matches along the way, and the start of a new annual tournament we hope to host again next year. Players will now all be invited to play in the tournament regional finals in months to come, with winners progressing through to National finals held at Wimbledon.
On Tuesday the U15A Boys' Division 1 team defeated Cardinal Newman 6-0, dropping only 4 games across 6 matches. The boys sit top of their league and face Seaford College and Steyning Grammar next week, alongside the Girls' Division 1 and 2 teams.
Athletics
On Saturday, Theo S-F and Grace H showcased stellar performances at the second Diamond League Athletics competition hosted at the K2 in Crawley. Theo dominated the track, securing 1st place in both the 800m and 1500m events. Meanwhile, Grace demonstrated versatility, with notable improvements in her 200m sprint time and achieving a new personal best in javelin. Very well done to both.

5 Mile Race – Friday 3 May
We had a terrific 5 Mile Race last Friday, round one of the great courses in superb conditions. It was really pleasing to see as many as 60 pupils and staff complete the challenge, which remains the same as it always was. It’s the taking part that counts.
Those up the front though are real heroes and congratulations in particular to Theo S F (1st overall in a time of 37.45 – several minutes in front of everybody else) and Max S (3rd overall) who ran knowing that they were guests and wouldn’t qualify for a medal. It is a long standing and excellent Lancing tradition to have this happen.
