Sporting Highlights – Friday 25 April 2025

It was a busy and exciting Easter break for sport at the College, with students participating in a range of trips. Our ski trip travelled to the beautiful slopes of Sestriere in Italy, while our Netball and Cricket teams enjoyed a fantastic tour in Barbados. Meanwhile, the Tennis Club headed to the picturesque Aphrodite Hills in Cyprus for training and matches.

Across all trips, staff were full of praise for the excellent behaviour and conduct of the students. A huge well done to everyone who took part and a heartfelt thank you to the staff who gave up their holidays to make these opportunities possible.

Tennis news
Congratulations to Jacob T for his outstanding performance over the Easter break, winning the Boys' 16 and Under Tunbridge Wells Grade 3 Open.

In other tennis news, the Boys' 1st Team competed against Bede's in the first round of the National Glanville Cup on Wednesday. George H set the tone with a solid victory in his singles match, winning 6-3, 6-4. Logan B and Jacob T followed with thrilling wins in their respective third-set tie-breaks. The final result hinged on the doubles matches, where Ben A and Jacob T delivered a stellar performance to secure an 8-4 win for the team.

Both the boys' and girls’ teams now advance to the quarterfinals, with hopes of securing their spots in the semi-finals.

Netball
Just before the Easter break, we hosted both the Junior and Senior House Netball tournaments – events that saw high energy, fierce competition, and great team spirit throughout.

In the Junior competition, round robin matches determined the semi-finalists. Manor played Handford, and Field’s faced Sankey’s, with Handford and Sankey’s progressing to the final. In a thrilling and closely contested match, it was Sankey’s who held their nerve and retained their title as Junior House Netball champions for the second consecutive year.

The Senior competition followed a similar format. After impressive semi-final performances, Manor and Sankey’s went head-to-head in the final. In a gripping encounter, Manor produced a superb display to de-throne the reigning champions and claim the Senior House Netball shield.
