Over the weekend, our football teams faced tough matches against our OLs and Bradfield, finishing with four wins, two draws, and three losses in a competitive afternoon of action.

The 1st XI were narrowly beaten 2-1 by a late Freddie Brown strike for the OLs, while the 2nd XI delivered a composed and well organised performance, powered by a star hat-trick from David O to secure an impressive 3-0 victory.

The U14Bs showed great resilience, overturning a 2-0 deficit to win 4-3, and the U15A extended their perfect record to three wins with a confident 1-0 triumph.

However, this week’s Team of the Week goes to the unstoppable U15C side, who dominated with a commanding 14-0 win, highlighted by hat-tricks from both Lucas K and Fernando N L.

Hockey News against Portsmouth Grammar School 
1st XI – The 1st XI delivered their best performance of the season against PGS at the weekend, securing a confident 2–0 home victory and maintaining their unbeaten streak. Coco M, Kitty H, and Chloe W earned MVP honours for their relentless energy and masterful control throughout the match.

2nd XI – Equally impressive, the 2nd XI extended their unbeaten run with a commanding 3–0 win at home. It was a strong team effort, with Ava U, Mollie T and Sienna R standing out as MVPs for their creativity and unwavering determination.

U15A – In one of the weekend’s most thrilling encounters, the U15A battled to a dramatic 4–4 draw. Both teams traded goals right up to the final whistle. Akeelah L and Olivia M were deservedly named MVPs for their tireless work rate and crucial contributions.

U15A vs Gordons

Facing back-to-back fixtures against Gordons, the U15A squad rose to the challenge with impressive consistency, securing consecutive victories: 4–1 on Monday and 3–1 on Tuesday. MVP honors were shared between Sophie F, Akeelah L and Theodora G for their standout performances across both matches.

U14A – Sussex County Cup Final

On Tuesday, the U14A travelled to Christ’s Hospital for the Sussex County Championship finals and emerged as 2025 County Champions!

  • In the group stage, they dominated with two decisive 2–0 wins against Christ’s Hospital and Burgess Hill.
  • The tense final against Hurst was settled by a dramatic last-minute winner from Greta M, clinching a 1–0 victory.

The team’s spirit and determination shone through in a fantastic all-around performance. MVPs Molly G, Bea D, Greta M and Bea B were instrumental in securing the county title.


Swimming News
Lancing swimmers competed at Bede’s in the first round of the Schools Super Swimming League last Thursday, finishing fourth overall with 127 points despite key absences.

Standout performances included Cecily S, who won first place in the Intermediate 50m freestyle, plus second in 50m breaststroke and open 50m butterfly, all personal bests. 
New team members Joshua C, Dhuruv K and Isla K-H (all Third Formers) also impressed in the Intermediate category. Bianca S A – battling a heavy cold – secured second place in both the open 100m Individual Medley and 100m freestyle,as well as third place in breaststroke.

The team heads into Round 2 at City of London Freemans confident and well-placed among 24 schools from Sussex, Surrey, and Hampshire. A fantastic team effort all around!
