This term’s main sports have been Swimming, Hockey and Football, and we are pleased to report we have had a successful term across all three.
Swimming
In swimming, we started the term with a spring in our step, after notable successes achieved at Nationals in August by Lancing pupils Bianca S-A and Bethany K, world class performances in Triathlon by our very own Karen Andrew, Deputy Head, and Kelly Edwards, Director of Sport.
And that continued into the Ken Deeley Open – our first local gala and start of the new season. Swimmers won an array of medals and young prep swimmers joined seniors qualifying for Winter Counties in October, where we finished 8th overall out of 16 larger clubs.
Hockey
We are incredibly proud of the talent, teamwork, and commitment displayed across all levels of our hockey programme. The 1st XI girls had an impressive campaign in the National Cup, and the 1st XI boys performed valiantly in the Sussex County Indoor Hockey Tournament. The U16 girls are advancing in the National Plate Competition, and the U14 team reached the Southeast Area Semi-Final.
With three students included in the Sussex County Pathway system, Lily S, Bibi W and Coco M; Amelia G has been selected for the South England Talent Academy and Fintan H made his National League debut for Brighton and Hove Hockey Club, showcasing the programme’s success in preparing players for top-level competition.
Football
The Lancing College Football Academy provides an incredible opportunity for aspiring players to develop their potential. This term has seen around 300 pupils take part in football each week, with 16 teams taking part in well over 100 fixtures throughout the term.
The U14s reached the Semi-Finals of the Sussex District League and last 32 of the ESFA Small Schools Trophy. The U15s and 1st XI advanced in ISFA Trophy and Sussex Schools Cup. We welcomed Nelly G to Lancing in the Lower Sixth, continuing her successful football career with Brighton & Hove Albion Women U19s and the Welsh national squad.
