On the last evening of term large numbers of the school gathered on the grassy banks of the college to enjoy the annual, open air, Summer Rock Concert. It was a truly memorable evening and the audience was blessed with perfect weather to enjoy the line-up of songs from Oasis to Artic Monkeys, and Leonard Cohen to Franz Ferdinand. We also heard original music by Chris C in between bands and a new song composed by Tom C and Matilde G.
A band made up of Third and Fourth Formers played a set including The Cure’s evergreen classic ‘Friday, I’m in Love’ with stunning musical input from drummer Enoch L, bassist Henry B and Honor C and Imogen W on guitar and vocals.
Tom C, Harrison M, Anna I and Henry AE performed some great tracks including ‘Supersonic’ by Oasis. Ollie C's vocals in ‘Live forever’, also by Oasis, were spot on.
Tom C and Matile G have written a number of their own songs and this year performed another original song, a beautiful acoustic number ‘Candlelight’.
The staff band, ‘Extra Duties’ returned with their ever-popular set and inspired some dancing in the crowd!
The Concert concluded with a fantastic set featuring the stylish vocalists Eva SW and Claire W, supported superbly by their band members Kian, Aleks J, Albert L, Jai L and Daniel I. ‘Funky music’ by Wild Cherry couldn’t have been any funkier and ‘Shut up and drive’ was energetic, bold and full of youthful spirit!
Well done to all the performers and for Mr Barry Worley’s superb coaching over the year on Thursday evenings.
