The LPH Charity Day was a wonderful day and a huge success. The children were all off timetable for the day and the school welcomed a contingent of professional cricketers coaches and mascots from the Sussex CCC Foundation, who brought along a selection of giant inflatables with a cricketing theme. They worked with children across the year groups with fun activities and advice on cricketing techniques.
The children had a full programme of activities on the day, from Drama to Science and from Art to French Bingo. They thoroughly enjoyed creating two large figures of disabled athletes, using their senses, with fabulous results. Pupils made their own UV colour changing bead bracelets and tested them out under different conditions. These bracelets let them know when they need to wear sunscreen and will change colour even on a cloudy day.
The highlight, literally, of the afternoon was the Colour Run! The Pre-Prep children and then Prep year groups took their turns to run around the course, while the Year 8 marshalls filled the air above them with clouds of coloured powder paint. The children had also taken part in an ‘Earn Your Lolly’ task and everyone enjoyed a refreshing ice lolly in the sunshine.
Meanwhile an intrepid team of teachers had set off on a sponsored cycle ride from school to Paris. They kept the school updated of their progress over the long bank holiday weekend and returned safe and sound to school the following week.
All in all the event raised just under £7,000 for our two nominated charities, the Sussex Cricket Foundation and Children with Cancer UK. Thank you to everyone who took part and everyone in our LPH community who supported the fundraising.
