{"id":72867,"date":"2026-05-15T09:48:29","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T08:48:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lancingcollege.co.uk\/prep-hove\/?post_type=vacancy&#038;p=72867"},"modified":"2026-05-19T10:01:03","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T09:01:03","slug":"sous-chef","status":"publish","type":"vacancy","link":"https:\/\/www.lancingcollege.co.uk\/prep-hove\/vacancy\/sous-chef\/","title":{"rendered":"Sous Chef (Term time only + 6 weeks) &#8211; from September 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Sous Chef<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reporting to<\/strong>:\u00a0 Chef Manager and Head of Catering<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Tasks and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To assist the Chef Manager and Pastry Chef in the provision of food to the agreed standard within the budgetary limitations and the School\u2019 standards.<\/li>\n<li>To deputise in the absence of the Chef Manager.<\/li>\n<li>To take responsibility for the management of allergens on the main service.<\/li>\n<li>To assist in the maintenance of high standards, in Hygiene and Health &amp; Safety.<\/li>\n<li>To carry out various preparations, serving and cleaning duties in the establishment under the direction of the management team.<\/li>\n<li>To prepare a high volume of meals, salads, etc as directed, using the college\u2019s policies and guidelines as a minimum standard.<\/li>\n<li>To ensure that meals are prepared and presented and ready for service at the published times.<\/li>\n<li>To assist in the service of meals where necessary.<\/li>\n<li>To always maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the food preparation and service areas.<\/li>\n<li>To constantly endeavour to improve the standard of food preparation and to incorporate any new techniques which become available.<\/li>\n<li>To assist with special functions 4 Saturdays per year or as required, some of which may occur outside normal working times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Skills and Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must possess relevant professional qualifications or have previous experience in a similar position.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with pastry is desirable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This job description sets out the main duties at the time it was drawn up.
