Francesca Milling, Deputy Head & Head of PSHEE

Francesca Milling has a BSc in Food Science and Microbiology and an MA in Education, completed at the University of Brighton in 2019. Since completing her PGCE in 2006 she has taught children from Year 2 to Year 13 in a variety of schools: a large inner-city comprehensive, a secondary academy, a Catholic middle school and a community secondary school. She joined Lancing Prep Worthing in 2014 where she became Head of PSHEE and was appointed Deputy Head in 2020. From February 2022, she is also the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

Francesca firmly believes in the importance of PSHEE in the education of all children and young people and this inspired her MA research project which was entitled ‘Exploring primary headteachers’ perceptions of the affordances, barriers and future challenges to Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education’. In February 2021, she was appointed PSHEE Subject Advisor for the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS).

Away from school, Francesca enjoys running half marathons and walking on the South Downs with husband, daughter and three dogs.
