Our Foundation Library was completely refurbished and officially opened in February 2017 by children’s author and Lancing College alumnus, Philip Womack.
The Library offers pupils a light, bright and fresh learning space with comfortable furniture, PC stations and, most importantly of all, an ever-growing and constantly changing selection of children’s books.
Lancing Prep Worthing pupils love reading; the school’s ‘Drop Everything and Read’ initiative (DEAR) gives every pupil the opportunity to pick up a book during the school week. The Foundation Library may sometimes be silent and sometimes buzz with chatter about the exciting books and stories the children are reading. It lies at the heart of our school and the education we provide for our pupils.
Quotes from children using the library:
“I love it here, it’s a good space.”
“It’s lovely and quiet and comforting.”
“We really like the beanbags!”
“If I needed to know about something, I would come to the library to find out more.”
“We look enjoy looking through the sections of our favourite fiction authors.”
