LPW pupils take part in French Speaking competition

Counteracting the recent publicity that modern foreign language learning is losing popularity in UK schools, five Year 7 pupils were amongst 30 prep school pupils taking part in the annual Lancing College French Speaking competition.

Max W, Nerea KM, George C, Grace C and Bragnae NW each had to recite a French poem from memory and deliver a talk in French using minimal ‘aides-mémoires’ on their own and their family’s TV and film preferences.

All five pupils – two of whom have only been learning French since September – crafted their talks and prepared over a period of many weeks with much ‘joie de vivre’ and ‘bonhomie’. They performed with ‘courage’ in the competition - ‘bravo’ to all and ‘félicitations’ to Max who was declared winner.
