Colts v Lancing Prep Hove 12 September
The Colts red team played their first fixture of the season at home to LPH. The boys played incredibly well and thoroughly deserved their 5-4 victory. In the first half, the fluidity of the Colts' passing was impressive and they played well as a team. Captained by Will O’B and Vice-Captain, Isaac R, the team showed good distribution, vision for passes and movement off the ball. The lead shifted between the teams over the first half with LPH taking the lead with a fantastic strike across the goalkeeper into the top corner. Moments later, Will O’B finished brilliantly into the bottom corner of the net to equalise. LPH once again took the lead with a shot deflected by a defender and Louis B capped an excellent performance with a goal to level the scores at 2-2. LPW led for the first time shortly before half-time when Oliver S cut the ball back for Marley R to get on the score sheet. Despite some wobbles in the second half, LPW brought the win home with the score at 5-4 on the final whistle. Player of the match was Will O’B.
The Colts blue team also put in a very good performance with a number of players impressing in their first game of the season. Captained by Lewis B, they played with passion in the first half and were unlucky to go into half-time 0-2 down to LPH, who were prevented from scoring more, thanks to some good saves by Jonah McL. In the second half, LPW did well at the back to break down a number of LPH attacks; Charlie G and Olly R made huge efforts to avoid conceding too many more. Lewis B also had a stint at the back and showed that he wasn’t afraid to do his best for the team. LPH scored a third before LPW were rewarded for their endeavours with a goal from Oscar G. LPW were unfortunate to concede just moments before the end when tiredness set in. The final score was 1-3. Player of the match was Olly R for his excellent defensive display and effort.

A fantastic start to the football season for the Year 6 boys as the Colts team finished 3rd overall. They started very brightly and finished top of their group unbeaten. After a quarter-final win, LPW faced a strong Aldro side. Our boys played some fantastic football, achieving a draw at full time. There was a tense 'sudden death' penalty shoot out and unfortunately for LPW, it was Aldro who went through to the final. Mr Richards was extremely proud of the effort and commitment all the boys put into their matches. Well done everyone who took part!

The new football season got underway for the 1st team at an U13 tournament hosted by Bede’s. The new combination of boys in the squad have begun to gel and in the group stage saw off a good Bede’s side by a single goal and played some flowing football against Great Walstead with impressive solo goals from George H-H and George C. A closely-fought final match resulted in a win over Brambletye School, with defenders Sam G and Alex M taking control of the game and the boys therefore finished top of their group. They started the semi-final with high hopes and lost narrowly to Hazelwood School who scored with the only shot of the game. James N was outstanding in goal and the work rate of midfielders Harry S and Cal N allowed the boys to play some impressive football.
This is a hugely encouraging start of the new season – well done to all involved!
