U11 Modern Biathlon at Lancing College
Five children from LPW made great efforts in this event which comprised a 50m swim and a 1km run over a tricky track. All the children swam and ran well and produced some good combined times. The best 4 combined scores were then added together for the overall result. We came a creditable 4th place out of 6 teams. Well done to all the children who took part and thank you to the parents who came to support us.
Wednesday 3 October
U10 Hockey v Brighton and Hove Prep School
Well what a game this was. The girls really took on board what they had learnt in training and put it into practice. They were driving forward with the ball and passing when needed. As soon as the ball was in the D they took their shots and this really paid off. In defence, they made some awesome tackles, prevented BHPS from scoring and worked hard to clear the ball quickly and out wide. A super game with great team work led to a 4-0 victory for LPW. Well done to all the girls who played. Player of the game: Grace W
Colts Football v Sompting Abbotts
The Colts’ red and blue teams played some great football against Sompting Abbotts in an away fixture. The red team fought hard for a 4-3 win and the blue team drew 2-2 in a very tight match.
The Red team were drawing 2-2 at half-time before second half goals from Marley R and Will O’B put the red team 4-2 up. The match became tense in the final few moments when Sompting pulled a goal back but LPW held on for the win. Player of the match: Marley R.
The blue team were also drawing at half-time, 1-1, with a good goal from Oscar G. They went 2-1 up in the second half before Sompting equalised late on. Lewis B was singled out for special praise from the Sompting Abbotts’ coach for his fine second half performance as Captain so he is player of the match.
Thursday 4 October U9 Football v Dorset House
The results sadly did not go their way for the Red and Blue teams but there were plenty of positives to be picked out from the matches.
The Red team conceded an unfortunate penalty for the first goal scored by Dorset House who added a second, well-worked goal before an own goal put LPW further behind. In the second half, the Reds pulled themselves together and showed positive attitudes and determination. Oliver S got a goal back for LPW goal and the game finished 4-1 to Dorset House. Oliver S was named Player of the Match for his goal and for never giving up, despite the scoreline.
The blue team also found themselves 3-0 down at the break before producing a much better display in the second half. Lucas K made some brilliant saves in the second half and John H was named Player of the Match for his spirited and hard-working performance as captain for the day.
