The postholder will be responsible for planning and prioritising their workload, working independently to maintain the grounds and gardens to a high standard, whilst maintaining regular communication with and reporting to the Grounds and Garden Manager.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Part-Time Groundsperson<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reporting to<\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Head, Grounds and Garden Manager<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To carry out routine gardening and grounds maintenance work of lawns, boarders, hedges, playing surfaces and landscape as directed by the Grounds and Gardening Manager or Deputy.<\/li>\n<li>To create, mark out and set up of playing surfaces in readiness for lessons and matches.<\/li>\n<li>To ensure the safe use and operation of equipment and machinery used in gardens and grounds maintenance.<\/li>\n<li>To inform the Grounds and Garden Manager or Deputy, where appropriate, to take corrective action on mechanical defects or breakdown of equipment.<\/li>\n<li>To observe and comply with the Health and Safety policy and code of practice for staff.<\/li>\n<li>To assist with the upkeep of selected beds, borders and shrubbery areas, hedges, lawns and the like to assist with garden planning and planting works.<\/li>\n<li>To assist with general upkeep of the grounds, picking up litter and collecting leaves and other debris.<\/li>\n<li>To ensure the security of the outbuildings such as pavilions and garages where equipment is stored, remembering to unlock and lock at the appropriate times.<\/li>\n<li>To keep roads and pathways clear of snow and treat with rock salt as and when required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Skills and Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience using mowers, hedge cutters, strimmer, tractors and other grounds machinery.<\/li>\n<li>Hold a full, clean UK Driving Licence.<\/li>\n<li>Understand relevant and current health and safety legislation as well as industry legislation.<\/li>\n<li>Possess technical knowledge of industry standards and resources.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work to a high standard, think ahead and generate ideas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desirable<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience of working within a school environment.<\/li>\n<li>Experience marketing sports pitches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Procedure:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications should be made using the application form.<\/p>\n<p>Application forms are available from the College website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lancingcollege.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.lancingcollege.org.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Please send any emails to <a href=\"mailto:recruitment@lancing.org.uk\">recruitment@lancing.org.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A full curriculum vitae and the names, addresses and telephone numbers of a minimum of two referees, one of whom should be the candidate\u2019s current or most recent employer should be included with the application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Terms and Conditions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hours of work are 22.5 hours per week to be worked Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 7.30am \u2013 4.00pm with one-hour unpaid lunch break.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"author":13,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":""},"vacancy-type":[80],"class_list":["post-74097","vacancy","type-vacancy","status-publish","hentry","vacancy-type-non-academic"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.lancingcollege.co.uk\/prep-worthing\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/vacancy\/74097","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.lancingcollege.co.uk\/prep-worthing\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/vacancy"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.lancingcollege.co.uk\/prep-worthing\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/vacancy"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.lancingcollege.co.uk\/prep-worthing\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/13"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.lancingcollege.co.uk\/prep-worthing\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=74097"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"vacancy-type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.lancingcollege.co.uk\/prep-worthing\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/vacancy-type?post=74097"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
