Shirin Gerami (Field's 2005–2007)

First female triathlete to represent Iran

Shirin was educated in her home country of Iran before studying her A Levels at Lancing College between 2005–2007. She went on to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Durham University.

In 2013, Shirin became the first female triathlete in history to officially represent Iran, famously completing the London Triathlon Championships while adhering to strict Islamic dress codes.

Shirin returned to Lancing College in 2015 to give a lecture Breaking Barriers.  In October 2016, Shirin became the first Iranian woman to complete the prestigious Ironman World Championships.

She has designed a range of sportswear in keeping with her Islamic roots, to inspire other Iranian women to participate in sport.
