Coaching Team

Charlotte Malik (née Woolliscroft)

Charlotte has a wealth of experience both in competition and coaching. Through her time spent with Sean Kelly and Richard Blackshaw at Stockport Metro Intensive Training Centre (run by British Swimming), she experienced first-hand the sport science involved in elite swimming. She learnt the technicalities of energy-specific training programmes, strength and conditioning regimes and cross-training and implements this following age-specific guidelines as set out in Swim England’s Development Pathway. Charlotte trained for 10 years in Sussex club, Shiverers, under the renowned former head coach, Ian Newell where she won over 13 British titles and represented GB on many occasions including European and World Championships in Open Water Swimming. She also attended Beijing Olympics 2008 as an ambassador for British swimming and Olympic hopeful. Charlotte believes that the combination of both her own and Ian’s philosophies, coupled with the latest sports science methods can help create an environment in which excellence can thrive.

Charlotte manages the swimming programme here at LCSC and hopes to continue to build a very successful and happy team.

Ben Malik Profile picture

Benjamin Malik

Ben has been involved in the Sports and Leisure industry since 2010, first as a lifeguard and then moving onto gym instructing and personal training in 2011. He has developed a love of swimming alongside this, and is most passionate about his swimming teaching, which he takes great pride in.

Ben has grown up around sport. As an avid basketball player from an early age he embodied the same sporting philosophy as we do here at LCSC, and for that reason we are very excited to have him head up our land-based exercise programme.

Ben will combine his vast fitness expertise and channel it into a swimming-specific programme to enhance the strength and conditioning of LCSC swimmers.

Ben is also swimming co-ordinator for our community swims and learn-to-swim initiative.
