Hannah Bond

Hannah Bond

Head of Catering

Hannah Bond was brought up in the beautiful Wear Valley, attending Wolsingham Grammar School.  Her hobbies were horse riding, shooting and obviously, Young Farmers.  A holiday job at a local restaurant first sparked her interest in catering, exhibited by her tendency to make 'useful' suggestions. Some of which were implemented!

Hannah set off on a gap year and returned eight years later, having travelled extensively and learnt to speak passable Japanese.  The experience of having to fund her travelling meant that she discovered how it was to work in different kitchens from small shacks on a beach to a real high point culminating with a position at the British Embassy in Hong Kong.

Back in the UK Hannah worked all over the country managing the catering facilities of big names in business such as Heinz, Nestle and Glaxo Smithkline. In 2008 she discovered the diverse world of Catering in Education at Trinity School, part of the John Whitgift Foundation. It’s here where she found her niche and has never looked back.

Being able to introduce and implement change in her role brings Hannah the greatest satisfaction.

In her first seven years, she has brought in a mouthwatering deli bar, extensive salad bars, annual house events, (pumpkin carving, gingerbread house decorating), and a hydroponics container where all Lancing’s micro herbs, lettuces and mini vegetables are grown. Her latest addition to the repertoire is POLLY, a Peugeot vintage food truck, which travels around the College and Prep Schools serving pupils and parents delicious match teas, camping breakfasts and BBQs. Her biggest driver is ensuring that every pupil, member of staff and visitor leaves the College having had the very best experience of school catering as well as learning a little more about the origins of the food they have eaten.
