Sporting Highlights – Friday 15 May 2026
Athletics
Last Thursday, our Athletics Team delivered another strong performance at the third round of the Diamond League competition at Hurstpierpoint College.
Highlights included Cecily S finishing 3rd in the 200m heats, while Roma G and Ethan F both placed 2nd in their 200m heats. Gloria R C finished 2nd in the 300m heats, and Ena T-M placed 3rd in the 100m heats.
In the field events, David O won the shot put with a new PB of 12.60m, moving closer to the current Diamond League record of 12.90m, while Emily M finished 2nd in the triple jump. The Senior boys relay team placed 2nd, and the inter girls relay team finished 3rd.
Tennis Match Report
Last weekend, Lancing enjoyed an excellent full block fixture against Worth School, with strong performances across all squads.
The Senior boys performed particularly well, with the 1st and 3rd teams securing impressive 7–2 and 6–3 victories respectively, while the 2nd team were narrowly defeated 6–3 after a competitive contest.
The girls delivered outstanding results, with the 1st, 2nd and 14A teams all recording dominant 8–0 victories. The 15As also battled hard to earn a 4–4 draw.
Among the Junior boys, the 15As edged a tight 5–4 win, the 15Bs produced an excellent 7–2 victory, and the 14As continued their strong form with another convincing 7–2 result.
Special thanks go to all players who stepped in at short notice, and to everyone involved across the 10 teams representing the club.
Coaches’ Players of the week were awarded to Bryce M, Molly G, Max T, Franzi K Beau F, Shimon M, Ben A, Jacob T and Amelia P.
Cricket Match Report
The U15 boys welcomed Christ’s Hospital on Wednesday in the first round of the Blackshaw Bowl Cup. After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Lancing produced an outstanding innings, reaching 174 before declaring after just 14 overs due to approaching weather. Thomas C starred with a superb unbeaten 102.
Lancing then completed an equally impressive bowling performance, dismissing Christ’s Hospital for under 70 runs, with Hugo M claiming five wickets.
MVP awards went to Thomas C and Hugo M.
The Senior Boys’ 1st XI also competed against Worth in the T20 Cup. Worth posted a challenging total of 179, and although Lancing responded with great determination, they finished 30 runs short after an entertaining contest.
Alex McG was the standout performer with an excellent half-century, while several Third and Fourth Form pupils made impressive debuts and performed exceptionally well.
