Miss Karen Andrew

Karen started teaching Geography in Halesowen, in the West Midlands but quickly moved down to North London to follow her dream of playing rugby for Saracens (and later England). She taught both Geography and Sport at Haileybury for 10 years, becoming Head of Girls' Games, Assistant Director of Sport, and Assistant House Mistress. She realised that Director of Sport was her passion and took on the role at St Edmund’s College, Ware, in Hertfordshire. She stayed there for three years before moving down to the South Coast to take up the position of Head of Faculty at Roedean School in Brighton. She enjoyed her time at Roedean but missed co-education, so she came to Lancing in 2018 as Head of Academic PE. She took up the additional role of Director of Sport and was then promoted to Assistant Head, Co-Curricular in September 2022.

She retired from rugby a long time ago but likes to keep active and is regularly training in her newfound sport of triathlon with Ms Edwards. She is very proud to say that she is a two-time Ironman, completing Vitoria-Gastiez in Northern Spain in July 2022 and July 2023.
