Mr Gary Bird

After completing his MSc in Psychology at Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand) and studying Cognitive Neuroscience at Kyushu University in Japan, Gary started his teaching career in 2013 at Reigate College in Surrey. He arrived at Lancing College in 2016 in the role of Head of Psychology and was a tutor in Head’s House. After a subsequent brief spell in School House, Gary took on the role of Assistant Housemaster in Gibbs’ House in 2018  and became Housemaster of Head’s House between 2020–2024.

From September 2024, Gary is Lancing's Designated Safeguarding Lead, having held the the role of Deputy DSL since 2019.

Gary enjoys playing football and coaches the U14A team. In his free time, he enjoys watching live music and is interested in films. He is married to Judith and has two children, Vivian and Damian, who both attend Lancing Prep Worthing.
