Mr Matt Smith

Matt Smith was Housemaster of Gibbs’ from 2000 to 2024. He has taught subjects including Religious Studies, Classical Civilisation, Drama and English at Lancing since 1990.

A keen thespian, he was Head of Drama for many years and continues to direct plays and musicals. Every other July he can be found in Africa, leading a sizeable group of Fifth and Sixth Formers on the long-established, month-long Malawi Expedition. He runs the Malawi Project at the College, as well as the Travel Awards scheme.

Matt has been Director of Drama and Dance since September 2023.
