Admissions Team’s Message – June 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The last leg of the academic year has begun. The Fifth Form and Upper Sixth are mid-exams and many are now on Exam Leave. A new batch of Senior Pupils are being put through their paces as House Captains and Prefects. The Excitement of the Third Form Challenge awaits in the closing weeks of term (walking, camping, water sports, film-making) and the final week of term sees the welcome of the new (with incoming pupil events; and a farewell to our Upper Sixth Leavers on the final night of term. Poignantly, this end of year also sees Dominic Oliver, who has been such an outstanding Head Master for the past eleven years, leave us to take up the reins at Oundle. His successor, Dr Scott Crawford, has been met by some of you already and is hugely looking forward to carrying on Dominic’s excellent work at the Lancing helm.
In this newsletter you’ll find articles covering a joyful Founder’s Day, reflections on artistic and dramatic success and academic highlights. We’ve loved welcoming prospective pupils to various keep-in-touch events and Prep School days (and there will be more to come in the year ahead!) and it is exciting indeed that Dorset House Prep School joins the Lancing family of schools.
The sun shines, the school looks glorious and there is a sense of high academic ambition and purposefulness in all our pupils, as well as a real appreciation of the beauty of the site and the opportunities to be seized within and beyond the classroom.
With every best wish,
Hilary Dugdale, Head of Admissions
