Cricketing Excellence Continues for Lancing College
Lancing’s reputation as a developer of professional cricketers (with Alice Capsey and Mason Crane significant feathers in their cap) sets the school apart.
The Cricketer Schools Guide 2023
Lancing College is proud to be recognised as one of the country’s top 100 Senior Schools in The Cricketer Schools Guide 2023. To be included in the Schools Guide once again is a measure of the College’s hard work to cultivate a strong cricketing culture. Director of Cricket at Lancing College, Raj Maru, put the inclusion of the school in the list down to the following factors:
‘It is a real honour to be included in the Schools Guide; the credit must be shared between the Grounds Team and the College’s management team. It has been a fantastic team effort alongside the managers and coaches who have put in a tremendous amount of time developing our young cricketers. Our consistent inclusion in the Guide must be put down to the College’s imagination and forward thinking to promote cricket in our school.
The update of the indoor Sports Hall, which now has four nets, and the work to develop the new six lane Astro turf outdoor net area has been a complete revelation to our practice facilities, ensuring excellent playing facilities throughout the year. We must also thank Adam Bedson and his Grounds Team who keep the squares and the outfield in tip-top condition all the year round, with invaluable support and advice from former Hampshire Groundsman Nigel Grey leading to new and innovative ideas.
The icing on the cake has been the development of Mason Crane and Alice Capsey. We are hopeful that with our new uptake for our Prep School academy, we will produce future county and international players.’
