Lancing CCF Triumphs at Summer Camp Competition
Lancing College’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF) enjoyed an action-packed summer camp during the final week of term, held at Longmoor in Hampshire.
Cadets took part in a wide variety of activities, including survival skills, axe throwing, archery, shooting, and watersports, testing both individual skills and teamwork in challenging and rewarding ways. The highlight of the week came when Lancing was announced as the overall winner of the camp’s competition! Remarkably, the Lancing contingent was the smallest section present, yet they outperformed cadets from 11 other schools to secure first place.
Miss Kate Horwell, writing on behalf of the Lancing CCF officers, praised the cadets for their commitment, energy, and behaviour throughout the week:
“We were the smallest section there, but your hard work, energy, and enthusiasm secured your victory. Both the cadet training team staff and your Lancing officers were impressed with your efforts. You’ve done Lancing and yourselves proud.”
Miss Kate Horwell, Teacher (D&T), Assistant Housemistress (Field’s), CCF Officer
The camp offered not only physical challenges but also opportunities for leadership, resilience, and camaraderie. Officers noted that the Lancing College pupils’ positive attitudes and excellent behaviour made the week a pleasure for everyone involved.
A special thank you goes to the cadets for representing Lancing College with such distinction, and congratulations once again on a well-earned victory! Wishing all our cadets a restful and enjoyable summer break.
