The hockey season is now in full swing, with a strong set of results against Christ’s Hospital at the weekend.
The 1st XI won 4–0, with goals from Molly G, Olivia M, Emily S and Grace H. MVPs were Amelia G and Grace H.
The 2nd XI won 1–0, with Jessica B scoring the winning goal. MVPs were Grace W and Kaylee B.
There were also wins for our Junior sides. The U15As won 2–0, with goals from Gloria R C and Cecily S, while the U14As also won 2–0, thanks to goals from Myla B and Chloe D.
The hockey action continued into the week, with the 1st XI maintaining their excellent start to the season on Tuesday, beating Lingfield 4–1. Grace H scored twice, with Lila D and Molly G also on the scoresheet. MVPs were Sophie F and Amelia G.
On Thursday afternoon, the 3rd and 4th XIs were also in action against Christ’s Hospital. The 3rd XI produced an excellent performance to finish 0–0. They played incredibly well throughout and were unfortunate not to come away with the win. Molly A and Maia B showed great strength, while Maeve H was awarded MVP.
The 4th XI secured a fantastic 2–1 victory. Lolly O opened the scoring as the sides went into half-time level at 1–1, before Charlotte E pinched the second goal to seal the win for Lancing. Charlotte E and Tamara G-R were named MVPs.
Congratulations to all involved on a very strong start to the hockey season, with some excellent performances across the age groups and teams.
Football News
There was plenty to celebrate in football too, as the season got underway against Lingfield at the weekend.
The U14A and U14B teams showed great spirit in their first matches together, both narrowly losing by a single goal.
Team of the Week goes to the 1st XI, who started their season with an excellent 3–0 victory. First-half goals came from Seth V, Sotaro N and Golie O.
There was also an impressive 8–2 win for the U16Bs, with hat-tricks from Adam G and Doga S, and two goals from Andrew O.
Congratulations to the 1st XI who won their opening round match in the ESFA National Schools Cup against The Weald School on Thursday afternoon. After going two goals behind early they battled back to 2-2 at half-time. An excellent second half performance including a hat-trick from Seth V gave Lancing a well deserved 6-2 victory.
