Athletics
It has been an excellent week for Lancing Athletics, with some fantastic performances at both the Diamond League fixture at K2 Crawley on Saturday and the District Schools Championships on Wednesday.

At the Diamond League fixture, there were several standout performances. Molly B produced an excellent run to win the girls’ 100m, Hugo VdP continued his strong season with another victory in the javelin, and David O delivered a powerful performance to finish second in the shot.
Wednesday’s District Schools Championships also saw some brilliant team performances from our Junior and Inter Girls’ and Boys’ teams. A particular highlight was the boys winning the 4x100m relay in impressive fashion, while the girls produced a superb performance to finish second in their 4x100m relay.

Beyond the results, it has been great to see such strong participation, enthusiasm, and support across all age groups, with students representing the College in a fantastic manner throughout the week.

Tennis
Last Saturday, we were delighted to host the annual LTA Play Your Way to Wimbledon tournament on the Lancing grass courts. A total of 20 students competed in singles matches, with an impressive 87 matches played across the morning.

The grand final featured two Teme House players, William Sand Joshua C, showcasing an excellent standard of tennis. It was fantastic to see such strong support from parents, as well as students giving up their break time to come down and cheer on their friends and housemates.

In the end, Joshua C emerged victorious, although both finalists demonstrated outstanding tennis throughout the morning – well done to both players.

On Tuesday, our Junior teams were back in action against Ardingly. The jJnior girls’ team, made up of Third and Fourth Form students, secured a convincing 11–5 away victory. At home, both the 15A and 14A boys’ teams delivered excellent performances, winning 7–1 and 7–2 respectively. We also saw a competitive internal fixture between the 14B and 15B boys, with the 15B team narrowly clinching a 5–4 win.

This week’s Coaches’ Players of the Week are: Franzi K, Connie DF, Tristan K, Riley G, Max T and Elias L. Congratulations to all.

Junior House Badminton
It was great to see all houses participating in this year’s House Badminton competition.

After some very close group games, the Houses progressing to the knockout stage were Gibbs’, Manor, Head’s, and School House. Second’s also progressed with a bye to the semi-finals after accumulating the highest number of points across all the houses. Saints’ also qualified as the best overall runners-up and secured a bye into the semi-finals.

Gibbs’ put up a tough fight against Manor, but Manor proved too strong, winning 15–12 to secure their place in the semi-finals. Head’s also battled hard against School House, but School once again proved too strong.
Second’s faced Saints’ in the first semi-final and secured their place in the final with an excellent victory. Manor then took on School House for the remaining place in the final, and after some fast and furious exchanges, School House emerged victorious.

The final was electric, with fast-paced rallies and hard-hitting smashes throughout. The match went all the way to three ends, with Second’s eventually defeating School House 21–17, 18–21, 21–17.

Senior House Badminton
From the very first serves in the group stages, it was clear that the competition would be fierce. Matches were tightly contested, with rallies stretching to their limits and players refusing to give in. After a series of thrilling encounters, Gibbs’, Manor, Field’s, and School House emerged as the standout performers, earning their places in the knockout rounds. Second’s, having accumulated the highest points tally overall, secured a well-earned bye straight into the semi-finals, while Teme claimed their spot as the best runners-up, also advancing with a bye.

The knockout stages raised the intensity even further. Gibbs’ put up a valiant fight against Manor in a gripping contest, but Manor held their nerve at crucial moments to edge through to victory. Meanwhile, Field’s showed great resilience against School House, but School’s consistency and composure saw them progress once again.

In the semi-finals, Second’s faced School House in a high-stakes clash. Second’s demonstrated their strength and control, securing a confident win to book their place in the final. The second semi-final between Manor and Teme House was a spectacle of speed and skill, featuring rapid exchanges and powerful smashes. In the end, Teme House rose to the challenge, claiming victory and setting up a thrilling final showdown.

The final itself was nothing short of electric. Second’s and Teme House battled through fast-paced rallies and relentless attacking play, with momentum swinging back and forth throughout the match. Both teams displayed exceptional determination and skill. Ultimately, Second’s emerged victorious, clinching the title with a hard-fought win.

The competition was a true celebration of teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship, and house pride.

Cricket
The U14A team produced an outstanding all-round performance to secure a comprehensive victory over Steyning in Wednesday’s T20 fixture. Batting first, the team posted an impressive 200–2 from 20 overs, thanks largely to a superb opening partnership between Thomas C and Freddie B. Thomas led the way with a brilliant 83, while Freddie added an excellent 51, with the pair putting on more than 150 runs for the first wicket. Their aggressive yet controlled batting laid the foundations for a commanding total.
In reply, Steyning were restricted to 161–4 from their 20 overs, as the bowling attack kept the opposition under pressure throughout. Harvey Rogers was the standout performer with the ball, taking two wickets and helping secure a convincing win for the side.
