Welcome to Lancing Prep Worthing
Lancing Prep Worthing is based in a Georgian manor house on a site of 2 acres, in the Broadwater area of Worthing.
We nurture in all our pupils a love of learning to enable them to maximise their academic potential. We have just three school rules: Love Learning, Be Kind and Go out into the World and Do Good, and these run through everything we do.
Pre-Prep and Prep School
We offer a fantastic variety of co-curricular opportunities for pupils to enjoy. Outside the classroom, we offer a wide variety of clubs, trips and enrichment opportunities. Chess, STEM activities, drama, karate, yoga, basketball, netball, cookery, debating, and art just to mention a few.
To help busy working parents, our school minibuses offer various pick-up and drop-off points, along with a service to and from Lancing College. We also offer wraparound care at the beginning and end of the school day.
We are very proud of our excellent facilities, which include a library, food & nutrition room, and a purpose-built drama studio. Our pupils also enjoy sharing the wonderful campus of Lancing College, where they play sport, swim, visit the Chapel and participate in academic and creative activities.
An independent prep school for children aged 2 to 13 years
Our broad and balanced curriculum is enriched with high quality creative and physical activities to provide a vibrant learning environment. We have small classes, dedicated teachers and offer outstanding pastoral care.
Although our academic achievement is outstanding, Lancing Prep Worthing is not a crammer, more of a place where children are engaged, supported, and encouraged. Pupils consistently earn top scholarships: Academic, Sport, Music, Drama, Art, and All-Rounder.
When it is time for our pupils to leave, they do so well-prepared and confident to face the challenges that lie ahead for them as they start their senior school education and embark on their adult lives.
Nursery and Pre-School
Our Nursery and Pre-School are an integral part of the Lancing Prep Worthing School family. As the youngest members of this family, we believe it is our role to build the foundations that will enable every child to succeed, provide your child with a friendly and exciting learning environment to start their learning journey, and instill a fundamental love of learning in each child.
Our Nursery and Pre-School is situated in the main manor house building and have their own outdoor play area. Children are taught by highly qualified Early Years practitioners, and we use the EYFS areas of learning as the basis for our curriculum. We draw upon school resources, such as specialist teaching in PE, music, and yoga; our Pre-School children have swimming taught by specialist practitioners.
We offer wraparound care during the term from 8:00am and after-school care until 6:00pm. Outside of term time, we offer holiday clubs for children from the age of two.
Extra-Curricular Activities
At Lancing Prep Worthing, we pride ourselves on the breadth and depth we offer in our Co-Curricular programme. It is incredibly important that we provide pupils with the range of opportunities, space, and support that will enable them to pursue their passions in life, whether academic or not. Outside of the classroom, a wide variety of clubs, trips and enrichment opportunities such as chess, STEM activities, drama, karate, art, yoga, basketball, netball, football, cookery and debating are on offer. Most after-school clubs are free, and the programme may change over the school year from term to term. Our clubs are popular, and some pupils even join five clubs a week!
Wellbeing
The wellbeing of every child is at the heart of everything we do at Lancing Prep Worthing. We are committed to promoting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing for all pupils, their families, members of staff, and governors. Our open culture allows pupils’ voices to be heard, and through the use of effective policies, procedures, and initiatives, we ensure a safe and supportive environment for all.
We have our own Head of Wellbeing who is based in The Hive, our wellbeing room for children, which provides a safe, comforting space. The Hive has an open-door policy, and the children can come to talk with a trusted adult about anything that they are struggling with and have a moment to regulate and rebalance if they are feeling overwhelmed and need some time. We also offer children individual, tailored ELSA programmes (Emotional Literacy Support) to support children who are struggling to understand and regulate their own emotions and those of others around them.
Promoting Social Skills
Beyond the classroom, we have an extensive extra-curricular programme, offering wellbeing clubs and activities. At the end of last year, a Guinea pig joined our school community who is particularly good at reducing stress and anxiety and promoting social skills.
