Nursery & Pre-School

We understand that every child is unique and they develop and learn in different ways. We develop positive relationships with each pupil and our staff work with each child individually, and in groups, to bring out the very best in every pupil.

In the early years, warm and nurturing relationships between adults and children ensure children settle quickly, are happy and play confidently.

During their time in our Nursery and Pre-School, children enjoy a wide range of enriching experiences. Activities are carefully planned around children’s interests to extend learning, introduce new ideas and link to Nursery and Pre-School topics and national events.

Our Early Years Foundation Stage provision exceeds the recommended staff-to-child ratios, ensuring every child is supported as an individual. Children are encouraged to learn in ways that suit them best, whether through active outdoor play, calm indoor exploration or a balance of both. Our ‘free flow’ learning environment allows children to move confidently between indoor and outdoor areas, supporting independence and self-regulation.

Our Nursery and Pre-School children also benefit from access to our wider school resources. Alongside the EYFS core curriculum, children have Swimming, PE, Music and Italian lessons with our specialist teachers.  Regular cooking activities, Forest School/Outdoor Sessions, STEM workshops led by our Head of Science, and Art sessions with our Head of Art further enrich the curriculum.

To enhance children’s understanding of the world around them, we welcome visitors from the local community, such as firefighters, dental hygienists and doctors. Children also enjoy trips to the local library, local shops for baking ingredients and visits to Lancing College Farm.
