Zane Albarus

Zane Albarus (Head’s 2023–2024)

Zane holds the distinction of being the first player to be signed onto the full-time training model by Brighton and Hove Albion. As part of this arrangement, Lancing College was formally ratified by the Premier League as an approved provider of education, a status awarded only after a rigorous assessment process. This prestigious recognition is granted to just a select number of schools, whether independent or state, and reflects the strength of our academic and pastoral provision.

After relocating from MK Dons in the summer of 2023, Zane joined Lancing in the Fifth Form in September. His family moved to Worthing to support his development, and he now combines his academic studies with daily training at the Club’s academy, conveniently located near the College campus. Since his arrival, Zane has gone from strength to strength, thriving both in the classroom and on the pitch.

Zane received an exceptional set of classifications for the Advent Term and continues to make excellent progress in his studies. He has settled seamlessly into Head’s House, where he is well-liked and respected by staff and peers alike.

On the field, Zane has represented the College with distinction, playing a key role in both the Boodles ISFA U18 and ESFA U18 National Cup competitions. He has scored three goals and earned ‘Player of the Match’ honours for a standout performance against Box Hill School. At club level, Zane has demonstrated impressive development with Brighton’s U16 side and has been awarded a scholarship to join the U18 squad next season. From that point, he will transition to becoming a full-time footballer.

Staff at Brighton and Hove Albion have spoken highly of Zane’s ability to manage the demands of elite sport alongside his academic responsibilities. His dedication, maturity, and time management have all been exemplary.

Zane’s fixture list is demanding, with weekly matches against other academy sides on Saturday mornings, in addition to participation in national tournaments. Brighton and Hove Albion have expressed their appreciation for the flexibility and support provided by Lancing, praising the successful collaboration between school and club. This strong partnership is something we are proud of and look forward to continuing in the years ahead.

Zane’s journey is already remarkable, and we are excited to support him as he continues to grow, both as a student and as a footballer.
